FIREPROOF MAN.
A native of Londonderry, Anthony Ryder, is a puzzle to scientists. He grasps iucaudesconfc iron without injury. When lately interviewed, Mr Ryder was found seated iv front of a blazing lire, cheerfully juggling redhot coals. "Medical men have taken the greatest interest iv my case," lie said, applying a blazing torch to the baro soles of his feet, "but they cannot explain why I am unaffected by heat. I was boru that way. I take this red-hot, steel bar from-the fire," ha continued, drawing a poker from the coals, "and you see 1 draw it across my tongue, but I feel nothing unusual. Now I draw my hands, tightly clenched, along the bar, and nothing happens—the palms of my hands are not even scorched by this fiteol bar,, winch is so hot that few men could even hold its cold end. Tiie doctors who have examined me say that my ability in withstanding such astonishing degrees of heat is not fraudulent and is not dae to any known medical condition."
