GEORGE MARLOW'S DRAMATIC COMPANY.

"AS MIDNIGHT CHIMES."

TO-NIGHT

The above brilliant dramatic company will pay Mastertou a return visit, when they will produce one of the most successful of all dramas, "As Midnight Ohiiues. " This drama was first produced in New Zealand at the Opera House, Wellingtou, and subsequently at Dnuediu and Christchureh, and the Company are now on the way to Auckland to prodnce it there. The press, wherever "As Midnight Chimes" was staged, were unanimous thnt it was one of the best plays of its kind evor seen in the Dominion. Some of the scenes are sensational,and the climax is reached in the scene where the hero escapes on a moving train which travels at top speed, The mounting aud costuming of the piece are of the very best, and patrons may confidently look forward to a very enjoyable evening. Prices of 4s, 3s fid and Is will be charged. No early doors. The box plan is at Miss Rivu's, where also day salo tickets may bo obtained without any extra charge.

THOMPSON-PAYNE PICTURES

\ very large number, iv spite of severe weather, visited the matinee at the Foresters' Hall on Saturday afternoon. The have expressed regret at refuse admission to so many ladies and children, but as the Foresters' Hall is licensed for a certain number, the bylaw re over-crowding must, be complied with. At the evening performance the accommodation of the hall was again taxed to its utmost, aud the various items were received in a very appreciative manner. This evening the Msual change of pictures will be presented. Speakiug of this new series, a contemporary pays:—"Nothing liner in the moving picture line has ever come before our notice; no item could be singled out for special mention, the whole programme beiug of such universal merit. " "Through the Alps" is a scenic subject showing the various beauty spots in this famous rauge of "jooun tains "Shooting an Oil Well" is a grand spectacular picture, demonstrating the working.of au oil bore. "Frankenstein" is a pictorfal adaptation of Mrs Shirley's famous uovel. "The Thread of Destiny" is a powerful and sensational drama. "M. Lertho and his Twenty Trained Dogs" shows to what perfection animal training can be brought. "The Cowboy aud the Squaw" is a fine dramatic study of cowboy and ludiau life iv America. "Baby's Power" is a drama that should appeal to the ladies, beiug of a very einotioual character. Amoug the comic films to be shown >vili be "Paul Pry" and "Foolshead marries against his will." The winner of the half guinea for the best verse last week is L. Boyd, Lausdowne.

TOWN HALL PICTURES

The current programme is one of the best that lias yet been presented in the Town Hall. The great dramatic representation of "The President's Special," which was recently shown to crowded audienues in the Wellington Town Hall, is one of the liuest pieces of kinematographic work displayed in the Dominion. The audience displayed its appreciation of tills film on Saturday night by loud and sustained applause. The whole of the remaining items on the programme are well up to the standard, but "The President's Special" is in itself worth the price of admission.

Mr Travis, R.A.M., will commence his self-imposed feat of endurance in the Town flail on Tuesday morning, at 8 o'clock, and will play the piano continuously for sixty-three hours. He will play for the pictures every evening, and at fchreo o'clock every afternoon will perform Mous. Wingard's masterpiece, "The Storm." Another attraction for the Town Hall Pictures, in the shape of a children's beauty competition,for which substantial prizes are offered, is advertised in this issue.
