WAIRARAPA RUGBY UNION.

The management committee of the Wairarapa Rugby Union field a meeting at Carterton on Saturday evening. Mr A. B. Charters presiding.

The dates proposed for the matches »the northern tour were found to unsuitable, and accordingly it was decided to play Rangitikei on Wednesday, August 3rd; Wanganui, Saturday, August 6th; and Manawatu on Wednesday, August 10th. The match with Taranaki has been abandoned, as a suitable date cannot be arranged. Hawke's Eay are to be offered the choice of August 2Cth or 37th. The matter of arranging a -date for the return match with Manawatu at Masterton was held over, and it was decided to make an effort to play a home-and-homo match each season.

The team to tour the North will consist of nineteen players and a manager (Mr J. M. Nicholls). An endeavour is to be made to arrange a match with the Bush Union, to be played at Masterton on August 13th.

A letter was received from the Wellington Union, regretting that Wairarapa could not play the Wellington B team, and stating that further correspondence with a view to arranging a match at Wellington would be dispatchfid later.

A report was received from the Ap«al Committee (Messrs Booth, Cochne and Beard), stating that they ■had decided in favour of the Liberal Club in the match with Dalefield, and the former's deposit was accordingly returned.

It was decided to purchase twenty green jergeys for the representative team.

The North v. South match will be played at Masterton next Saturday irrespective of weather conditions. The colours for the South team will be maroon, and for the North green. Play will commence at 3 p.m. sharp.

The remainder of the senior matches for the season were abandoned. The following grounds were allotted:— Greytown Reserve for the Masterton v. Lower Valley junior, and Carterton Reserve for Star 111., v. Carterton.

The Dalefield Club issued a challenge for the Pearson Cup. The challenge will be forwarded through the Union.

It was decided to hold a meeting of the committee in Masterton on Saturday next, after the North v. South jsaatch, if necessary.
