GAMBLING QUESTIONS.

The House divided on Thursday night ou each of the Premier's motions relating respectively to the bookmakers and the totalisator. The proposal "That in the opinion of this House the provisions of the Gaming Act, 190S, relating to the licensing of bookmakers should be repealed," was carried by <?9 votes to 4, tho "noes" being the Hous. J. Carroll and J. A. Millar and Messrs A. E. Glover aud T. M. Wilford.

The motion "That iv the opiuion of this House the use of the totalisator should be prohibited by law," was lost by 40 votes to SJ2. Following is the division list :—
