THE IRISHMAN SCORED.
An Irishmau was sitting iv a railway carriage, smoking, when a woman catno aud, sitting down beside him, remarked:
"Sir, if you were a gentleman you would not smoke here."
"Mum," he said, "if you were a lady ye'd sit farther away." Pretty soou the woman burst out again: "If yon were my husband, I'd give you poison." " Well, mum," returned the Irishman, as lie puffed away at li is pipe, "If ye were me wife I'd take it."
