A handsome memorial to the late Captain Matthew Webb, the Channel swimmer, has been completed, and is to be erected at Dover overlooking the Channel. The memorial consists of a bronze bast of Webb surrounded with an appropriate desigu of dolphins and sea-shells, resting on a red granite obelisk, which bears a bronze laurel wreath, The pedestal also bears an inscription recording Webb's successful Hwiin from Dover to Calais in 21hrs 45mio on August 24-25,, 1875. The memorial has been provided by public subscriptions. NOTHIFG TO PEAR.
