The Education Board has accepted the resignation of Miss M. Hughes, assistant teacher, Newmau School.

The leading lady of Mr J. C. Williamson's Grand Opera Company will be Madame Bel Sorel, who will make her first appeanauce on Saturday next, at Sydney, iv "Madame Butterfly"

A Press Association cablegram, received at 9.20 a.m., from London, states that Miss A. Whitelow, formerly ci' Auckland, had been appointed headmistress of the Wycombe Abbey School.

Mr Albert George Hollaud, rpgistrar of the Native Laud Court, Auckland, has been appointed a judge of the Native Land Court. He has been seventeen years in-the service of the Native Department.

Mr Douald Donald leaves for Sydney to-day by the s.s. Mauuka, aud will probably make a stay of some six mouths, endeavouring in the meantime to make au inspection of such industries as might with advantage be established in Mastertou.

After his tour through New Zealaud with the "Peter Pan" Company, Mr Thomas Kingstou will return to Euglaud. This popular actor has had a very long engagement with the Williamsoj management, and has a number of notable successes to his credit. He has appeared iv Masterton on several occasions as leading mau with Miss Tittell Brune, also iv '' Brewster's Millions" and "The Flag Lieutenant." Mr Kiugston will have the good wishes of a large number of local playgoers for his success in the Old World.

It is mauy years sines Miss Moore madethe part of Lizzio Stopel ("No flies on Lizzie") peculiarly her own, and there arc very few playgoers in Australasia who have not seeu the popular ar.tress in this well-known play, iv the original production of which she had the support of Mr J. O. Williamson, then merely a player, now the leading theatrical manager in the colonies.
