ORANGE BLOSSOMS.

BROWN-HOOD

Kuox Church was the scene of a pretty wedding yesterday, when Mr David Gardner Brown, ouJy son of Mrs T. Brown, of Masterton, was married to Miss Mary (Polly) Hood, eldest daughter of Mr F. Hood, of "Kohatu," Upper Plain. The bride, who was given away by her father, was charmingly attired in a semi-Em-pire frock of silk taffetas, trimmed with Honitou lace, and woro the customary veil aud orange blossoms, while she carried a lovely shower bouquet of whito cactus dahlias, intermingled with asparagus ferns. Miss M. Hood, sister of the bride, aud Miss A. Shaw, cousin, acted as bridesmaids, aud were prettily dressed iv semi-Empire frocks of crepe cle chine, with cream satiu trimmings aud black picture hats. Each carried a beautiful shower bouquet of yellow and white cactus dahlias aud asparagus ferns. Mr J. Walker, of Wellington, officiated as best man, and Mr J. Shaw as groomsman, while the ceremony was performed by the Rev. L. Thompson, ol ! Oartertoii, assisted by the Rev. Bain Macdouald, of Masterton.

At the conclusion the party, including a large nuumbor of guests, was driven to "Burnside," the residence of Mr W. Mclvenzie, uncle of the bride, at which place the wedding breakfast was laid. A large marquee had been erected on the lawn and some eighty guests sat down to the breakfast. Tlio customary felicitous toasts were duly honoured, all ."joining in wishing the newly-married couple every happiness and success in the

future. Mr and Mrs David Brown loft by the afternoon train for Wellington and from there will proceed North. The I bride's travelling dress cousisted of a tailor-made costume of dark brown, with a brown hat to match.

A largo number of useful and very handsome presents were received.
