GROUND COMMITTEE

The Ground Oomniittee of tho Wairarapa and East Ooast P. and A. Society met; at Cartertou ou Friday, Mr E.'Eagle, jutir., presiding. The various works carried out by the caretaker since the late show were inspected, aud further works were authorised.

Applications were received from the Cartertou Hockey Club aud tho Wairarapa Rugby Union for the use of the Society's grounds for matches and were referred to the General Oomniittee witli a recommendation to outer into the same terms with easli institution as those of last year. £_The Besses of the Barn Baud wore granted permissiou to use the grounds for an * entertainment, the charge being £3 3s. GENERAL COMMITTEE. Mr E. Eagle, juur., occupied the chair at a meeting of the General Committee held subsequently, when a number of apologies for absence were received. It was decided to ask Mr McHardy, of Palmerston North, to represent the Society at tho annual conference of the International Sheepbreeders' Association at Liverpool in June uext. The annual meetiug is to be hold on Thursday, April 28th. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded Mr G. W. Dellpr for the fat wether recently sold at auction ou hehalf of the Society, aud to the buyers aud auctioneer. It was decided to recommend the incoming committee to consider the question of holding a stock sale at the Society's next show, this being considered to be iv the interests of tlie farming community aud the district. The judge's Loudon report on the cheese exhibited at the show in October was read, showing Daleheld Factory to be first, Belvedere second, and Taratahi third. It is interesting to note that at the show eight factories were bracketed for first place. As the Loudon report on the other exhibits was vague, the Natioual Dairy Association lias promised to secure a full report.

The Gisborne Farmers' Union wrote stating that a representative meeting had passed a resolution urging that the Government appoint meat-graders exercising powers similar to other produce graders.—The Society docided to rafer the matter to the annual meeting.
