LONDON, Wednesday,

House of Commons, the amendment moved by the Right Hon. T. Lough, M.P. (Liberal) for Islington West, to rednce the Navy vote by three thousand men, was negatived by -225 votes to 34.

Right Hou. R. McKeuua, First Lord of the Admiralty, stated that the twojfower standard, as defined by Hou. - H. H. Asqnith (Prime Minister) on May 2Gth last, was not exceeded by the Estimates. The Admiralty considered that five Dreadnoughts were not wanted before 1913, and also chat it was expedient to delay commencing ■their construction until tlin latest date possible.
