Assod-.li::-.- i:io:ir:.: '!\.-k-i;r.-i|>!i-C.<;>\nyht. ADELAIDE, Monday. Hector M'Leau, second engineer of the steamer Stnif.hness, was acquitted on a charge of murdering a Chinese (ire man. TiiG fireman died on iSfch February. At tho preliminary trial the witnesses, principally Chinese, stated that deceased was thrashed and kicked on several occasions, and died tho day following his last thrashing. There worn between twenty aud thirty bruises on the body, which was thrown into the sea.
