The Tawalia Dairy Company has received advice that the price of its
cheese is steadily advancing. The first shipment realised 54s Gd per cwt. Miss Toomath, who is leaving Oarterton on Thursday, with her parents, for Gisborue, was-on Monday evening presented with a beautiful Oxford bound ccpy of Burns poems, as a token of esteem from the teacAiers.
Mr Rowe, telegraph lmeniau, has returned to Featherstou after his annual holiday, and resumed duty on Tuesday.
The weight guessing competition in connection with the Gartertou Catholic Bazaar was made known on Tuesday. The two sheep weigiied together regis> tered IOOIbs, and when the guesses were sorted three were found to have set down the exact weight—viz. , A. Rayner, A. F. Quinn, and C. Bishop. The tickets of these three were put in a ballot, the winner proving to be.A. F, Quinu. A pretty wedding was celebrated afc St. Mark's Church, Cartertou, on Tuesday, when Mr Gavin C: Arc us, third son of Mr T. S. Arcua, was married to Miss Ellen Lawrence, only daughter of Mr aud Mrs James Lawrence, of South Carterton. The Rev. R. Young, vicar of St. Mark's, was the officiating cleigyman. The bride, who was given away by her father, looked charming in a beautiful gown of cream silk eolliene, Empire style, trimmed with silk overiace, insertion to match, and she wore the customary veil aud wreath of orange blossoms, aud carried a lovely shower bouquet. The chief bridesmaid, Miss A. Arcus, sister of the briidegroorn, was tastefully attired in cream silk striped voile, and wore a hat to match: She also carried a.shower bouquet. The other bridesmaids, two little dots, Misses Olive Hodder and Lorna Lawrence, cousins of the bride, were very prettily dressed in cream radianta, semi-Empire style, trimmed with blue ribbon and insertion. They wore cream silk and straw Greek bonnets, and carried lovely baskets or white sweet peas, lebenia aud fairy grass. The duties of best man were carried out by Mr J. Gayfer. The bridegroom's present to the bride was a gold amethyst bangle, to the chief bridesmaid a gold curb bangle, and to the little girls silver aud enamel neck chains and pendants. The bride's gift to the , bridegroom was a goldmounted ribbon albert. After the ceremony the happy couple left the church amid showers of rice and confetti, aud adjourned to the Victoria Hall, where the reception was held.
