DANNEVIRKE SHOW.

On Friday next Dannevirke will be en fete, the occasiou being the first annual Show of the Southern Hawke's Bay district, held under the auspices of the receutly formed Daunovirke District A. aud P. Association.

Though but a few months havo elapsed since the Association was even talked of, its career lias been from the outset marked by energy aud enthusiasm, aud there is every reason to expect that the Show itself will be a signal success.

So widespread is the interest which has been taken in the event, not ouly in the Dannevirke district but also by residents between here aud Napier, in the Wairarapa. Mauawatu, and oven further afield, that a big influx of visitors is expected on Friday next—in fact it is anticipated that tiie town will be full to overflowing.

The Dannevirke Recreation Ground, where the Show is to he held, is prettily situated, picturesque, and sheltered, and has the additional advantage of being only about ten minutes' walk from the Railway Station aud centre of the town. The pretty gardens at the entrance are now at their best, and the fresh green lawns and bright flower borders must delight the eye and senses of every visitor. In tne various competitions there will be ample attraction. For the the maiden hunters, open hunters, and ladies' hunters, there are big iields entered, while the class for ladies' hacks is a particularly strong one. Amongst the competitors aro a number who take part in the Hawke's Bay and Palmerstou Shows, and an excursion to Dannevirke on this occasion should prove one not likely to be regretted. On the other hand, those making the trip will most certainly look forward to its repetition. The train service from Napier and Hastings suits admirably, and, railway excursion fares having been arranged for. the occasion, it is to be iioped that a large number of residents of tins district will make up their minds to visit the Show.
