PERSONAL MATTERS.

Rev. A. Hodge and Mr E. J. Ohilton will leave Mastertou by the first train to-morrow, eu route for Auckland, where they are to attend the annual meeting of the Congregational Umou, as delegates from the Masterton Congregational Church.

Mr JR. W. Gibbs, who for close on twenty years has been connected with the head office of the Bank of New Zaalaud, has. at his own request, been relieved of inspection duties, having been over seven years inspector of branches, and will shortly take up the management of tho Timarußranch.

Air A, R. Bunny, who for many years held the position of: Crown Prosecutor for the District Court of Wairarapa until its abolition, has been appointed Crown Solicitor for the Supreme Court for the Masterton sub-district of the Wellington Supreme Court district.

At tiie conclusion of the business at the general meeting of die Shearers' Union, on Saturday evening, a presentation was made to the secretary, Mr E. W. Abbott, in view of his approachiug marriage. The President, in a few well-chosen remarks, conveyed tho good wishes of fellow unionists, and asked Mr Abbott to accept a handsome dining-room clock, suitably inscribed, aud an epergue, as ai token of the esteem in which lie is held by his associates.-Several of the members present also spoke in terms of appreciation of the valuable services and general good qualities of the secretary.

Mr Charles Albert, a popular member of'tho present Pollard Opera Company, was with tho original Pollards some years ago, and is pleasantly remembered by many Masterton playgoers. He was but a mere boy iv those days, aud was very .successful in such characters as "The luseot" in "Paul Jones," aud "The Call-boy" iv "Iv Town."

Mr H. N. Holme;;, secretary of the Wellington Y.M.O. A., has "received advice that the Rev. Dr Henry and Professor P. Bilhoru, noted evangelists, left San Francisco last Tuesday on a world-wide evangelistic tour. They commence their mission iv the East, and after touring Japan and Chiua, will coma on to Australia, being due to arrive at Wellington in April. They will visit the four centres of the Dominiou. Di: Henry is minister of First Baptist Church, Los Angeles, California, and two years ago he finished a five years' mission m Great Britain, during which he got 120,000 persons to sign the pled at*. As a preacher Dr Henry is pre-eminently in the forefront. Professor Billioru is tiie composer of .many hymns, and ;;■. chorus leader aud soloist; of considerable reputation.
