RAILWAY TIME-TABLE.
AX INADEQUATE TRAIN SER VICE.
DISCUSSED BY THE A. AND P. ASSOCIATION.
The altogether inadequate railway ssrviee char ar present obtains iv Wairarapa was birrorlv commented on by members of the Mastortou A. and P. Association at their meeting on Saturday afternoon. Tlis matter was brought up by riie President. Mr Suimnerell. who stated that the train arrangements tor the. Show, as far as the northern distrie?:; were concerned, wen , not- altoji-Thei satisfactory, as th:> first tram from the nor a t In till 11.-n a.m. They ha i communicated svitii the Department in regard tj t.ie- m.itter aui had be-rii informed t'ia: a special train woaM b? run from Wojtlvillo for Sort. Tiiis d'd not s-3iu to be a very large sum, aud the Asso-ia-tiou snouid n? able to gu-irautee that amount without running any risk of a loss. Mr O. Coop?r stated the matter was one of very groat importance, nn ojlv iv regard to the Show, but also to the Ram Fair. i> was a well-known fact that since December !">:ii they iin.'.! ouly had a tram service through Wairarap-i. an 1 a rsvv b:ul on; , . ,it that. It hadbscu suggested that tiny misiit co:u;:)2U?.3 to sell tlia stu 1 sheep at 11.: i ;..> a ia and the flock sh»?,p afterwards, mid they might take this into consideration. But in auy c.i-e the whole train service at present vras as bad a< v could \v a! 1 b.\ Mr J. D. Cruicii-shsuk move'!, and it was carried, time the Chairman and himself be appointed a committee to make necessary arrangements for a special train from Woouviile to Mastercon on people's day at the snow. Mr O. Cx)jj?r suggested tiiat a spec^itrain be also run on the first day Ram Fair, and moved that the committee appointed be empowered to make arrangements accordiugl\\ Mr J. Strang secouded tlie motion. Mr Welch sfcatsd he was not altogether in favour of the idea, as those •who wished to imrcbase sheep would probably stay over the last day of the Show. Mr \V. Perry moved, as an amendmsut, that the Ram Fair start at 11 a.m. instead of 10 a.m., aud that, if possible, the stud siieep be sold iirst. Tney had to take into consideration, iiesaid, the fact that, there would not be so many people in town at the end of the Show, aud those wishing to stay in town would have no difficulty in ihiding accommodation. Mr McGregor did not think they ought to sell the stud sheep till after lunch, as buyers had become so accustomed to tli3S9'sheep being soid ac that liour. It was pointed out that the hour of sale were already advertised in the catalogue as startiug at 10 a.m. Mr Cooper held that if a special train were engaged it would be a capithing i'or the Ram Fair. His reso*"nmon, on being put to the meeting, vras lost. Mr stated that, 'n view of the tim 9 IP'starting for the Ram Fair having already been advertised, he would withdraw his amendment.
