The Association was favoured with exceptionally fine weather for the second day of the Show, and the atteudauce was highly satisfactory, the stands being very well patronised. The Feilding Band was in attendance (Mr J. Cummings, conductor), ■mid the music was a specially attractive feature of the day's programme. Judgiug of horses was completed. In the weight carrying hack sectiou, equal to 14 stone or over, there were some horses of a good stamp. Iv this class there were sixteen entries. Mr J. Lonrie being awarded first, Mr J. G. Nelson second, aud Mr W. G. Wade's entry third. Iv the Light Weight Hack section, mare or gelding, any age, up to 11 stone, to be ridden by gentleman, there were eighteen entries, and from the class of animal shown in the classes, weight-carrying hack, light weight hack, weight-carryiug cob, and ladies' hack, it is evident that the breediug of useful saddle horses is not beiug neglected iv the Dominion, or at any rate in Manawatu, Raugitikei, and to the north. Mr L. G. Bremer's Redan was awarded first in the se3tiou Lightweight Hack, Mr J. Northcatt's Sea Bird second, aud Mr W. G. Wade's Cyclone third. In the class, Weight-Carrying Cob, the judge's awards were Mr Norman Green first, Mr F. Bluudell second, Mr R. L. Levin third. In the Lady's Hack class, fourteeu entries, Mr L. G. Bremer's chestuut Redau was awarded first, Mr Jas. Lonrie's Scout (the winner of first prize in the Weight-Carrying Hack class) second, aud Mr. W. G. Wade's Cvcloue (the winner of third prize in the Weight-Carrying Hack) third. Mr Bremer's Redan was adjudged the Champion Hack, and a very five stamp of a horse he is. In the best walking Horse class, ten eutries, Mr H. P. Taylor had two entries, a mare aud a gelding, aud he was awarded first prize for the latter aud secoud for the former, Mr James Lowrie's roau Scout, entered in this class as well as weight-carrying hack aud lady's hack, being placed third. In the class single harness pony, the judge's awards were: Mr G. Price first. Hoult and Sous second, and Mr T. Edmonds third. The exhibits were not to exceed fourteeu bauds, and there were teu entries.

There was au added class, for livery stable keeper's horse, mare or gelding, fifteen Hands or over, gig and harness, to b9 bona fide property of exhibitor. The originally entered horses did not compete, and"two animals from the single harness pony class were selected as prize-winners, the awards being Mr (]. Gordon's horse first, and Mr W. Wilson's entry second.

In the class lady's horse (mare or gelding) aud trap there were fourteeu entries. The exhibit had to be driveu by a lady, the horse, trap aud harness to be judged, the exhibit to be the bona fide property of the exhibitor or family at time of entry. Poiuts were awarded as follows:—Horse 15 poiuK harness 5 points, trap and appointments 10 points, total 30. The judge (Mr Robert Ross, Wangauui) fiually made the awards as follows :—Mr W. D. Watson's brown geldiug Geutlemau Jack first, Mr W. E. Baker's entry second, and Mr W. Riddler's Loch Lomond third.

In the draught horse class (Mr W. D. Watson, Mastertou, judge) the championship in working horses was awarded to Mr B. Short's Lady Alexander, the prize-winner and the same owner's mare Miss Ivanhoe being awarded first prize in the class pair horses showu in dray, leader and shafter. No championship award was made for draught geldiug. Eor heavy gelding or mare, showu in dray or spring-cart, Mr E. Short's Miss Ivanhoe again caught the judge's eye for first prize, Westport Goal Company second. Iv class light geldiug or mare shown in spring-cart, up to a ton, there was only one entry, Hoult aud Sous, who were awarded first prize. In the class Best Walking Horse, draught mare or gelding, four entries, Mr E. Short had two exhibits, being awarded first for Lady Alexander and third for bay mare Darling, Mr S. G. Perry getting second prize.

In the class. Pair Horses, mares or geldings, to oe shown in plough harness, must be bona fide property of a farmer, aud iv regular farm work, four entries, Mr E. Short was awarded first for his pair, Lady Alexander and Lady Lucy, Mr A. Campbell's entry being second and Mr H. P. Lauce's pair of bays third.

In the three-horse Plough Team, geldings or mares, to be shown in harness, opeu to horses employed in bona fide farm work only, three entries, Mr E. Short's team was again victorious, with hi 3 exhibits Lady Alexander, Lady Lucy, and Princess

Fancy, Mr A. Campbell's team getting second place as they did in the pair horse competition. There was only one eutry for heavy spring cart horses, up to a ton, horses aud harness to be the bona fido property of a farmer, aud to bo driveu iv harness. The ouly exhibitor, Mr A. W. Smith, was awarded first prize. Iv the class Farmer's Geueral Utility Horse, there was better competition, there being eleven entries. The first award fell to Messrs Hocken Bros.. second to Mr J. Green How aud third to Mr 0. Lassen.

Iv the single horse best adaptod for a towu carrier's express, aud must be. the property of a licensed carrier, to bo shown in harness attached to carrier's express or cart, thore were ouly three entries, Mr A. M. Garlick being awarded first, Mr W. J. Joues second, aud Mr A. G. Fidier third.

Iv a few casual chats with one aud another, I fouud that those who take au interest in the Association are full of confidence iv its future. They are gratified to note that the quality of the stock is improviug year by year. Notwithstanding various slight drawbacks, the Show, as a whole, has been quite as good as its best friends could wish. The quality of most of the sheep .exhibits was undeniable, the Down crosses particularly. Mr G. E. Allou'sßomneys attracted much attention, aud were spoken very Highly of. COMPETITIONS. The Maiden Hunters' Competition was concluded after I left the ground on Tuesday. It was open to horses that had not won a jumping or steeplechase competition at auy A. aud P. Show, or auy advertised hurdle race or steeplechase, over such course aud jumps as tho stewards may decide, each horse to carry not loss thau 12 stouo; three baulks to disqualify; uo lady allowed to ride in this competitiou. There were no fewer than tweuty-six entries, aud the competition at times was somewhat excitiug. The fiual award was Mr PI. C. Hartley's entry first, Mr W. v. Watson's browu mare Wildfire secoud, and Mr James Sweeney's entry third. On People's Day, the first competition was for Best Lady Drivers, for which there were ten entries, the fiual awards being Miss K. O'Brien first, Miss Grace Robertson second aud Mrs F. S. Mcßao third. The other competitors were Miss Gertrude Deusham, Mrs J. Green, Miss M. R. O'Brien, Miss Jessie Campbell, Mrs C. Robertsou, Mrs W. Lawrence aud Mrs P. L. Sim. In the Pony Jumping Competition there were seventeen entries, the awards being Mr James Campbell's entry first, Mr A. McDougall's secoud and Mr T. Cameron's third. The Ladies' Huuters Competitiou produced some incideuts of occasional anxiety to the spectators, but uothiug serious occurred. The final awards wore Mr Lownes' roan horse Scout first, Mr F. Gibb's Gay Boy second, and MrF. A. Shaw's Merrylegs third. Some very clever horsemanship was shown, aud the Competition was one of the most interesting during the afternoou. The Hunter's Competition, an exceedingly popular event, resulted iv a win for Mr J. Coonibe's b m Marchioness, witli Mr H. C. Hartley's Vendetta second and Mr Morrissey's eh g Haerelui third. Iv the Stepping Competition the competitors had to step one chain or nearest to one chain over such grouud as the stewards may appoint. Tho competitiou was held in the saddling paddock. The awards were:—T. Gifford first, C.jft lOiu; W. Shannon second, Coft 9k,'iu; and W. G. Fry third. 05ft Sin. "

The Butter Fat Competition attracted considerable interest. The judgiug took place on Tuesday, but the results were uot disclosed till uext day. The first award was made to Mr W.~ E, Baker, _ lbs milk, 4.8 test, 1.58 butter fat; aud A. Richards was awarded second aud third prizes, both bis cows giving 21ibs of milk, the tests being respectively 5.(5 aud 4. ( .i, aud LIT and 1.02 butter fat. Mr Baker wili now have a leg-iu for the Challenge Trophy presented by Mr E. Newman, M.P., lor competitiou iv this class.

At 4 p.m. the ground presented a very picturesque aspect, there beiug a large attendance scattered over the racecourse, the whole scene being one of brightness aud animation. All the stands were crowded, aud ou every part of the racecourse were gatherings of well-dressed, prosperous looking settlers, residents of both towu and country, who had evideutly come for a day's pleasure-seeking. All the elements for a really enjoyable holiday have beeu much iv evidence, aud all interested in the Association may feel gratified at another successful Show having been held. The public will -look forward to future Shows with increased satisfactiou, hoping for substantial strides iv advance as time goes ou. Judged by the criterion of the Show of 3910, tli3 Association ueed have no misgivings as regards tbe future.
