WAIRARAPA MINERAL PROS-
PECTING COMPANY,
A meeting of the committee aud others interested iv the formation of a mineral prospecting company was held in Mr R. Brown's oilice yesterday afternoon. There were present:— Messrs C. E. Dauioll (in the chair), Donald Donald, W. B, Cheuuells, J. 0. Ewiugton, J. Hunter, A. Henderson, G. R. Kibblewhite, aud others.
The chairman stated tho mooting had been called, as they were no doubt aware, in regard to the mineral prospecting company which they were formiug. At their previous meeting they had proceeded to elect provisional directors, issue shares aud make calls. This action had been questioned by a number, who held that the Committee had only beeu set up to report. Personally, he was of the opinion that they had beeu empowered to taue the lino of action they had by tho Chamber of Commerce. In auy case, it was essential if any prospecting wore to be done this summer, that they get to work right away. Mr Cheuuells stated that he was one of those who were preseut at the meeting of the Chamber of Commerce at which the matter had beeu discussed. It was true that the committee had at first been instructed to report, but they had afterwards been given power to act aud had done so. It was decided to substitute the name of Wairarapa for that of Masterton in the designation of the company, aud that it be known as the Wairarapa Mineral Prospecting Company. It was resolved that the company be registered as a limited liability company ; the capital of the company to "be £1000, divided into oue thousand shares of £1 each. That 2s Gd per share be paid ou application, 2s Gd on allotment, and calls be made not exceeding Is at intervals of not less than one mouth.
Subject to their consent, six uew names were added to the list of provisional directors, which vow coutaiu the following : —Messrs C. E. Daniell, D. Donald, W. B. Cbennells, J. 0. Ewiugton, J. Hunter, R. Kibblewhite, J. Caselberg, A. Henderson, G. C. Snmnierell, J. Hessey. D. J. Cameron, A. Hatha way, W. 11. Cruickshauk, aud W. C. uuchauau, M P. Mr li. Brown was appointed secretary at a remuneration to bo fixed by tho directors; Mr H. C. L. Robinson the solicitor; aud tho Bank of Now South Wales bankers. It was resolved that tho Company be registered as soon as two hundred aud fifty shares are subscribed, and that the members for Masterton and Wairarapa be asked to assist the Company in procuring a Government subsidy towards tho cost of prospecting. Ten shares were fixed as the number necessary to bo held to qualify for the position of director. The question of engaging a first-class mining expert to supervise tho work of prospecting was discussed at length, aud it was suggested that they advertise for a mau in the four centres. It was eventually decided, however, that it would be better to get tho preliminary prospecting done by a local mau, and consider tho question of engaging an expert afterwards. The secretary was instructed to call auother meeting as soon as £050 worth of shares were subscribed. Tho meeting then terminated, those preseut undertaking to canvass for shares.
