Miss Mace, of Bramerton, who has been on a lengthy visit to Oamaru, returned home this week.

A quiet but pretty weddiug was celebrated at Hastwell ou Thursday moruiug, when Miss Rose Reelial, second daughter of Mr aud Mrs C. Reehal, of Hastwell, was married to Mr JosephCorbishly. The bride looked becomiug iv a uavy blue tailor-made costume, with hat to match, trimmed with large ostrich feather, aud was her sister, Miss N. Reehal, who wore a cream tailor-made costume, with a cream bee-hive haG trimmed with small pink roses. Mr C. Gavin acted as best mau. The happy couple left by the afteruoon train "for Auckland and Rotorua.

Mr O. J. Canton has resigned his seat on the Wellingtou District Land Board. In a letter read at Thursday's meeting of the Board, Mr Canton stated that he was reluctantly compelled to resign owiug to private business, which would necessitate his absence for two or three meetings. Mr James Mackenzie, Commissioner of Crown Lauds, said Mr Cautou had devoted his energies to the Board, aud he had looked upon things in a broad mauner. He regretted the resignation, and desired to expiess his appreciation of the manner Mr Cantou had carried out his duties. A motiou to this effect was recorded in the minutes.
