Mr T. E. Taylor, M. P., intends to pay a visit to Australia noon. He will spend several weeks in the Commouwealtli, but will return to Christehureb before the next session of Parliament begins.

Rev. U. Porter, who for three years has been pastor of the Methodist Church at Thorndon, Wellington, and who is now in Mastertou, was presented with a purse of sovereigns as a token of goodwill from his congregation. The Rev. Porter was stationed at Hawera some four years ago, when he resigned his charge to become organiser of the Young Men's Forward Movement in connection with the Methodist Church. Ho held this position for one year, and was then appointed to the Thorndon .circuit.

At tho conclusion of his lecture in Wellington, Lieutenant Shaekleton was presented with a gold cigarette case by tho students of tho Victoria College. When thanking the donors, Lieut. Shackletou remarked this was tho first occasion when he had beau made a public presentation.—The marriage is to take place in tho first week in May of Miss Ivy Tatliam, .youngest daughter of the late Mr F. Tatliam ami Mrs Tathaiu, of Homowood. East Coast, and Mr W. A.
