A PUZZLING ORDER.
lv a couutry hotel in the southern States, a very .simple Negro waiter was employed. "Boss, how will you hab your eggs?" asked the negro oi ! oue of the party of travellers afc the breakfast table. "Fry one egg ou oue side 'ami one ou the other side," he answered. The negro went to the kitchen, returning in a few moments. " 'Souse mo, boss," he inquired, "but how was it you wanted them eggs?" "You fool, I said I wanted oue egg fried on one side and another fried on the other side," shouted the traveller, apparently losing his temper. Back to the kitchen went the negro. Sounds of the noise and confusion place in the kitchen for five injppes reached the ears of the travellers. Finally the negro returned. "Boss, won't you please tell dis nigger onco more how you wanted them eggs?" he pleaded. ''I told you I wanted one egg fried on one side and another one fried on the other side. Now, do you understand that?" "Yessir," explained the negro iv a, tone of dire distress, "I understands you perfectly, but, boss, I can't make that ignorant mulatto cook understand it."
