Mr .)'. T. M. Honisby addressed a mooting ol about thirty electors lioro on Friday night. Mr 11. S. Mason occupied the chair. His address was listened to with great attention. Ho dealt chiefly with tho land aud labour questions, and spoke very strongly against Socialism. At tho conclusion questions wore iuvifod and a few were put to the speaker, which wore auswerod satisfactorily. Mr R. Rowo proposed a vote of thanks aud coufidenco. Mr Hornsuy said ho proforrod to leave confidence out, and so tnis was withdrawn. Mr M. Smith seconded a vote of thanks, which w;is carried unanimously. Mr Horusby thanked sill for their presence thore aud for flic attentive hearing they had given him. There were two very sevoro frosts last week and vogetablo gardens have suffered considerably. The oarly potato crops aro looking very black The weather is still very unsettled and occasionally vory cold. Thursday being a fine day Gladtsono was nearly deserted, most of the rosideuts atte'udiug tho Carfcertou Snow. Thoso who did not attend the Show wended their their way to tho Opaki Races.
