CROSSBREDS EASIER.
Messrs Levin and Co., Ltd., have received the following cablegram from their London agents regarding the July .sales, which have just terminated :—Merinos generally closed firm on a par with opening rates. Continental buyers are operating freely. Fine crossbred* closed at a decline of five per cent, ou opening rates, with bidding slow. Medium and coarse crossbreds clo.sed on par with opening rates, American buyers operating freely. Tendency is duwnwards. as reports would indicate that trade is quiet in the manufacturing districts. Messrs Abraham and Williams, Ltd., have received the following cable from London, under date Ist August:—The sales have closed with good enciuiry from all brandies of the trade for all descriptions, except coarse crossbreds, which are i^d to yA per lb lower. The demand tor merino is strong. The total quantity held over is 90,000 bales, of which 50,000 arc New Zealand. The following are the closing values for crossbreds: —Coarse 36's to 40's, (H<Cd to 6?;(d ; medium 44's to 46's, 7d to iyA; fine 50's, B%d to .
