STOCK SALES
Messrs Dalgety aud Co. report as follows:—We held our Efeetahuua sale on Friday, July 31st. Entries came forward up to advertised number. All sheep sold well under the hammer,but cattle were dull of sale. We quote: 2-tooth to 5-year-old ewes in lamb to 12s 7d, cull ewes in lamb to 7s 6d, empty ewes to Gs Id, good forward wethers 14s, jDOorer sorts lis 4d, lambs 7s to 8s Gd. Cattle : Fat cows £4 10s, light fat bullocks £4 10s. dairy cows to £5.
Messrs Dalgety and Company held their fortnightly sale at the Upper Hutt yards on Thursday. Sheep were represented by a pen of well grown forward hoggets, which sold at 11s Id. In cattle the chief eutries were dairy cows, for which there was good competition. There was also a demand for beef; auy cows showing condition realised good prices. Sound springing cows sold from £4 7s Gd to £5 18s. Late calvers £3 15s to £4. Heifers in calf £2 10s. Light beef cows £4 los to £5 7s. Forward cows £3 us to £3 15s.
