The weather coutiuues satisfactory for this time of the year aud stock generally are going through the wiutor well, uuless with those settlers whose places were badly burned in the fire, and who have endeavoured to hold on to their stock. Quite a number of farmers are engaged stumping areas of ground to prepare feed for the winter. A rather nasty accident happened on Saturday in the bush at Qninlan's mill. As a trolly with Jogs was coining down a hill the brakes broke and the load dashed on to the horses. The horse next the trolly escaped but the leader was killed on the spot, and the driver had a very narrow escape. Mr Quinlan lias been most unfortuuate of late, this being the second valuable draught horse he has lost this mouth. The contractor and men who built Lirsen's Bridge have gone to the Hutt, Where they are engaged building a . large suspension bridge across the «|f> Hutt river. Mrs Collinson, wife of a well-known Hamua settler, who was killed some little time ago by a trap accident, died on Saturday after a lingering illness.
