NEITHER FIRE NOR WATER.
The play was not by any means brilliant, aud obviously the man was bored. Suddenly he leaped to his feet. "I heard an alarm of fire," he said. "I must go and see where it is." His wifo, whose hearing was less acute, made way for him in silence, and he disappeared. "It wasn't fire after all, "lie said on his return. "Nor water either," said his wife, coldly.
