Politics are warming up in.the Pahiafcua electorate. The Liberal party at Pahiatua gives a unanimous support to Mr Hawkins, but a Woodville caucus favours Mr Cooper. A meeting of delegates was held in the Alexandra Hall, Woodville, last Wednesday night, to select a candidate to contest the Pahiatua seat in the Opposition interest at the forthcoming general election. There, were thirty-seven delegates present, says the Woodville Examiner, exercising fifty-seven votes, Pahiatua delegates mustering in strong numbers. The following otner districts were represented :—Woodville,
Mau&ahao, Woodlands, Papatawa, Maugataiudka, Ngaturi, Scarborough, Maharahara, Kumeroa, Kohinui, Ballanco, Porangahau, Wallingford and Makokmako. The candidates wore: Messrs S. Bolton, farmer, of Mangataiuoka, and Mr J. 0. Cooper, farmer, of Tano. A ballot haviug been taken, Mr Cooper secured a majority of tho votes, aud'was declared the Opposition candidate to contest the Pahiatua seat.
