Mr William GiHandera, National Secretary of the V.M.C. A. in Australia, will be in Mastertou on 15th, Kith aud 17th April. He will meet the members of the local Board and discuss with them various matters in couuectiou with the Association. He will also give a lauteru lecture on the Y. M. C. A. work throughout the world.

It has beeu arranged between the partners that Mr A. L. Wilsou's interest in the firm of Messrs Macdonald, Wilsou aud Co., the well-known Wellington auctioneers, shall be purchased by tho Hou. T. Keuuedy Macdouald, M.L.C., the seuior partuer. The formal auuouucemeut in connection with the matter will be made in a few days.

The following delegates arrived yesterday for the U. F. B. A. Conference: —Oaptaiu Mitchell. Duuediu City; Secretary Gilberd, Napier; Snb-super-iuteudeut Wiklish and Fireman Lapridge, Gisborue. Oaptaiu Hauseu, of Westport, President of the Associatiou, arrived by the express from Wellington this morning. The executive meets to-night.

Peudiug the arrival of the Rev. A. M. Johusou to assume his new position as vicar of St. Mark's? the Rev. H. J. Edwardes will occupy the pulpit at that church. Mr Edwardes has been eugaged for some time iv temporary work in the Duuediu diocese, his last charge there being that of St. Lube's, Oamaru, which has now been takeu over by the Rev. J. G. 8. Bartlett.

There recently died on the Mahia Peninsula au old Native woman, who is probably the last of the military pensioners. Her husband was shot at Te Kouaki in July, 18(38, aud she has beeu drawing a pension of £36 a year ever since. In July 1868 Te Kooti with 250 other prisoners escaped from the Chathams in the schooner Rifleman and lauded at Whareongnonga, a few miles from Muriwai. They were well armed aud soon joined by disaffected Natives.

The death is announced at Larbert, Stirlingshire, of Major Robert Dobbie, founder and head of Dobbie, Forbes and Co, Larbert Foundry, aud one of thebest-knowu Scottish iron-founders. The Major, who was in his seveutieth year, was a self-made mau, rising from the position of moulder's boy to a merchant prince. He took a deep aud active interest iv public affairs, aud was munificent iv his benefactions.

The Rev. P. W. Fairclough, F.R. A.5.,.0f Wesley Church, Tara-naki-street, is being transferred from Wellington, probably to the Christchurch Methodist Central Misison, in April next. This engagement, it is thought, will be for a year only, so as to enable him to accept an invitation to the Duuediu Methodist Church. Mr Fairclough is a man of considerable literary aud scientific attainments. He has been connected with the ministry ot the Methodist Church both in Australia aud New Zealand for a considerable number of years.
