MR J. L. MURRAY'S

In drapory as well as othor businesses special displays aro now being made for the festive season, and ono well worth a visit of inspection is that being mado by Mr J. L. Murray, at the Exchange Buildings. The building is so constructed that it louds itself to a display of this kind. It would probably be a surprise to most of our readers to learn that in tho portion of tho building occupied by Mr Murray including tho archway at the entrance to the tea room, there are no less thau ten windows containing more thau 1300 squaro foot of plate glass. Ono window is devoted to bedspreads, pillow shams, sheet shams, fancy frilled pillow cases, cosy covers, tray cloths, aud a groat variety of linen and fancy work d'oloys aud lace curtains. A secoud window contains ouly holiday requisites such as solid leather bags, portmanteaux, travelling trunks, hat boxes, carryalls, straps aud handles and other leather goods. Two windows are dovoted to a display of furnishings including hoarth rugs, door mats, oarpet squares, door slips, art sorgos (all wool). A mercery display occupies another window, iv which is a fanciful array of Woodrow's and Christies' boater straw hats, pauainas, fancy vests, pyjamas (summer weight), linen collars of tho most up-to-date shapes, silk ties, bathing costumes, swimming belts, etc. A big show of Kaipoi, Roslyn, aud Potoue rugs is being made, occupying no less than three of the large windows. In the same display are included a number of steel trunks, solid leather collar cases, gents' companions and a variety of other lives suitable for Xmas presents. Iv another window are displayed juvenile washing garments, crash suits, navy aud whito galatea tops, Norfolk suits and other similar lines. The whole makes up a display of a nature which is seldom seen outside the large centres

Siuco removing to tho larger premises Mr Murray has boon able to greatly increased his stock aud the largely increased business which has been the result has necessitated the employment of a much larger staff. Special attention is now beiug given to household drapory, and only standard makes of proved quality are stocked. Nameless qualities (although they carry largor profits) never find their way to Mr Murray's shelves. Tho public aro invited to view tho display which is being made.
