PARLIAMENT BUILDINGS.
A LAMENT,
(Contributed.) Oh where! Oh where is the talking
shop now? Ob where is the Goveruors's throiie.' In smoke and flame—what a burning shame!
Oli where lias our Parliament gone? The gallery where the ladies sat, And counted the heads so bare, Or spotted the wigs, of Tories and
Whigs; That gallery's gone elsewhere. The place where the public were nightly squeezed As they watched the M.H.R's. Has gone from our gaze, in a glorious
blaze Surrounded with lots of stars. The throve overlooking tho place where
our "Lords" Played havoc with many a Bill, Or put ou the brake, when their wealth was at stake, No more will Lord Pluuket fill.
Tho green curtained gallery where
the scribes, Of the Press watched the drama below,
Has vanished from sight without saying "Good-night," Or giving hto Pressmen a show. The chair Sir Maurice, and Arthur, tilled Adorned in wig and gown, And rulings gave, to make members behave, Oh tell me where lias it flown? The golden mace that the Sergeaut-at Arms Aloft on his shoulders bore, No longer will grace, its old restingplace ; It has gone to the nevermore. The members are scattered far and wide, And tears bedim each eye, For in ashes white, quite a sorrowful sight, Their historic chambers lie.
