We notice that an application has been made fco the Park Committee by Mr Brown, on behalf of a local syndicate, for tho privilege of being allowed to orect a water-chute, provide motor launches, etc., in connection with the Park Lake. We hoartily fall in with tho proposal, as it not only will .be a groat attraction for visitors from the town and surrounding districts, but will bo the means of bringing a great many people and school excursions from the townships of the Valley and Bush. The syndicate does not wish to acquire any rights which will interfere with those of the public to the Park and Lake, only to find something attractive to those who desire to spend a pleasant day in the town. With the Park, which is an ideal spot for small picuic parties, and the proposed added attraction, no pleasanter place could be selected for a day's outing. The syndicate, we understand, represents men of capital, who have a substantial stake in the town. The charges would, in all cases, we are confident, be reasonable, so as not to be a bar to any child or its parent from enjoying and participating in tho privileges to be afforded. We feel assured the Borough Council will give its unanimous consent; if so, the chute, in all probability, will be ready by Anniversary Day.
