CHAMPIONSHIP MEETING

The entries received for the New

Zealand championship meeting at ,Mk New Plymouth have exceeded expectation, and as the time for entering does not expire until the 18th inst., more will yet come in. The entries for the New Zealand Combined Championship will be possibly the best on record for quality as well as quantity. The players that have paired speak for themselves, and are as follow :— ■ Parker and Miss Powdrell. Peacock and Miss "Wellwood, Cox and Miss Ward, Fisher and Miss Nnnneley, Dickie and Miss Baker, Young and Miss , Batham, Brown and Miss

Travers, Oooke and Miss Hatchings. Misses Udy, Gray aud Van Stavern will also compete in this event, but their partners .are not known -yet. Quill. Wallace Grossman, A. Browu, Bamford and Bauchop will all have partners. Looking at the Tarauaki Combined Championship, from what is known in Wellington alone, the event will be almost as good as the New Zealand one. Some of the pairs are as follow :—Parker and Miss Wellwood, Fisher and Miss Nunueley, Peacock and Miss Ward, Young aud Miss Batham, Cooko and Miss Hvtchiugs, Browu aud Miss Travers, Dickie and Miss Powdrell; besides there are several strong pairs to be fixed this week.
