"THE NORTHERN REPROACH."

!TO THE EDITOR.! Sir,—l have lately had to cross the two bridges several times daily. Only ou one occasiou have I seeu a gig, dogcart, buggy, or spring cart traverse these rotten bridges at less than a itrotting pace. Often the horses have •been driven at a canter, aud motorcars at a speed of tweuty or thirty miles an hour. There is a notice--board at each end of the northern ibridge proclaiming pains and penalities for persons wicked enough to drive or ride across faster than a walking-pace. The drivers of all these vehicles may possibly be blind; else, they have no excuse for risking accident to themselves, aud (what is of far more consequence) to innocent pedestrians. If, sir, you will scud a reporter to stand on either of these bridges when some of these reckless drivers are crossing, lie will find himself bumped up aud dowu as if in a respectable earthquake. Possibly you may not care to risk a reporter; but if you do, and if he survives the shaking, I shall hope to read of his experiences in due ■ wfcse. —lam, etc., WM PEDESTRIAN.
