if Received To day, at 535 a.m.) m OTTAWA, Last Night. Aflmessage from Winnipeg reports ..'that Mikkilsen's Arctic expedition ilias beeu lost. York message, dated March —31st, stated that Mr Mikkelsen's Anglo-American Polar expedition in the schooner Duchess of Bedford was :\ frozen up two hundred miles off Port I Barrow, Alaska,. Preparations are being completed to explore unknown country to the north. There are indications of oue large island not far ■distant from the mainland. The Anglo-American expedition, led by Mr Einar Mikkelsen, started on May :20th, 1906, for two or three years' work iv the Arctic regions. Adverse conditions hindered progress, aud tho Duchess of Bedford only reached Port Barrow on August 15th of that year).
