Wellington Wool and Skin Sales.
Levin and Company, Ltd., report:— We held our usual fortnightly sale on Friday, offering 25 bales wool, l<soo skim, 700 hides, and a quantity of tallow and horsehair. Wool—There was a larger attendance of buyers fchau usual. Prices were firm at last sale rates. We quote .-—Coarse crossbred 8d to 934X1, rough and inferior Gd to 7%d, pieces and bellies 4>£d to locks 3d to 4d, crutchings, good to crutchings, seedy od to Gd. Skins—There was good demand at last sale rates. We quote—Merinos 7d to Bel, fine crossbreds B%d to 9d, coarse crossbreds 8d to B%d, "dead skins Q}/ 2 ii to dead hoggets to dry pelts" to lambskins 7>o'd -ttr--B%d, green skins os lOd to 7s,~lamb pelts as to 4s. Tallow—Finn. Parcels in shipping order £26. Tints £17 to £22 15s. Rough fat, £16 10s. Horsehair—. Is to Is yd per lb. Horns—Bs to 17s Od per 100. Hides—There was excellent spirit shown, and prices advanced to to i<>d per lb. We quote; —Ox liidtsri, extra heavy, none oft'ei'ing; oxhide?, 701bs and over, G)- 3 'd to (>%d; ox hicbs, oOlbs to 701bs, ol|dto 7%d; cow hides, od to o^d; Jh skins, best, Gd to 7%d; calf skins, rat and slippy, 3d to 4d; hides, cut and slippy, 4rl to oj^d; stag hides. to 4%d; bull hides, 3>£d to next sale will be held on Friday, 21st June, 11)07. Dalgety and , r Co., Ltd., report:— Buyers were in attendance in large numbers, and competition for all classes was keen and spirited. Prices were in advance of last series by about to ¥ 2 <\ on wool and skins, and about %d to %d on hides. The quantity offered in our catalogue was not large, due no doubt to the excessively wet weather retarding , crutchiug, etc., on the various farms. We quote as follows :—Wool —Medium crossbred, 8d to B%d ; sliped lambs, lid; crutchings, light in condition, bright and clean, G%d to 7^d; heavy and seedy, (5;l to G) 4 d; inferior, 4? 4 d to Skins—Crossbred, sound pelted," B> 4 d to S^d; crossbred, .shorts, 7%d to 8d; crossbred, inferior, 7J' 4 'd to lambs, 8d to B%d; dead and---broken, to Gi/,'d; pelts, »\<l to GV 4 'd; green, to Gs Id. HuteLf-~ Ox, Golbs to 72lbs Gd to G>.s<l ; under Golbs to 5%d ; cow, *§ffeps to oOibs 5%d peril), tiepr 4olbs od to" 5%d; calf, 7> 4 d to ~%d ; horse hides, 18s each. Tallow—ln tins, 22s 9d to 23s per cwt. Horns— 14s Gd per hundred. Murray, Roberts and Co. report-: — We catalogued 40 bales wool. 1700 sheepskins and 100 hides. The usual attendance of buyers was augmented by a number from the Southern centres, and bidding for all good lines was brisk, prices for the best skins being firmer. Hides rose a farthing per lb. Crutchings are now coming forward in good quantity, and wellsorted lots are readliy bought at from 7d to 7%d per lb. We quote -.—Wool —Crossbred oddments, seedy, etc., 8d to B%d per lb; crutchings, clean, 7d to 7%d; crutchings inferior to medium, to 6i.<d; locks, pieces, etc., 3d to o}4d. Sheepskins — Crossbred, medium to fine, S)<>d to 9)^1; crossbred, coarse, 8d to B%d; lambs, 8d to damaged and inferior pelted, 7d to 8d; dead and hoggets, (jj<;d to 8d; green and damp, os 2(1 to 6s~lod each. Hides—Heavy ox, Gd to G%d per lb; light and medium ox, to Gd; good cows, 5%d to 5 7 ' 8 d; medium, s>|d to • ojk,'d; damaged and faulty hides, v 4d to "od ; calf, prime, G%d "to 7;k>'d ;calf, inferior and dailwfaged, 4d~ to Tallow-eus, 20s to 22s 9d per cwt; casks, 255W26s Gd per cwt (no really good lines offering).
