THE MELBOURNE MURDER.

Clue to the Perpetrator

{Received Ta-d.au, at 1030 a.m.)

MELBOURNE, This Day. After Mr Bauer was murdered, Mr Cutler, a jeweller, in Little Collmsstreot, informed the police that a man called at his shop and inquired Mr Bauer's address a few days ago. The description corresponded with that, or a well-known Victorian crimiual. Suspicion points to the fugitive haying gone to Sydney. This idea fits in with the story, that a man was seen to leave the building in a violent hurry a few minutes after 5 o'clock. He hailed a cab, telling the cabman to drive fast to Spencer-street. The Sydney express left at 5.5 p.m.
