HISTORIC SACRAMENTAL VESSELS.

• A curious memento of the Boer War recently enme into the possession of Archdeacon Hindley, the acting administrator of the diocese of Melbourne, in the following manner :—- Some timo ago, whilst visiting one of the townships on the Sydney-road, within the diocese, he was informed by the wifo of the local innkeeper that she had a sacred relic of the South African struggle, and she brought out a complete set of Communion vessels in German silver, made evidently for a travelling bush clergyman of South Africa, They consisted of chalice, paten, two silvermounted cruets, and a. box of the same material for the sacred elements. The chalice is in three parts, and takes to pieces, and the whole is packed in a. leather case, with D\s for strapping to a saddle. These vessels were looted from some church in South Africa, but the Boer who had them was taken captive by a British soldier, who also captured the Communion vessels. They were sold to a civilian, and re-sold about half-a-dozeu times before they found their way to Victoria.
