(Received To dav,at 8.55 a.in.) LONDON, Last Night, Ghistonbury Abbey has been sold for £80,000. (Glastoubury is a town, in Somersetshire, of over four thousand inhabitants. The original , monastery was founded or enlarged there by King Ina of the West Saxons, and was added to in the tenth century by the Abbot Duiistau. In 118-1 it was almost entirely destroyed by fire; but at the time of the dissolution the monastery was one of the richest in the country. Of that particular building only the Abbot's kitchen remains. Other ancient buildings are the Abbot's Barn, the George Inn (formerly the Pilgrim's Hostelry), the Tribunal or Abbey Court, and two churches. In the vicinity grew the famous Glastonbury Thorn" (Crataegus precox), which, according to popular tradition, blossomed every Christmas Day, and which was destroyed during the Cromwellian period, though grafts still exist).
