A BAD MOVE.

Mr Mowbray waited on the Council re foot bridge over the Mangatainoka river attached to the railway bridge and offered to subscribe £4 per year towards tho maintenance of £8 per year as asked by the Railway Department. Resolved that consideration of tho question of the bridge asked for by Mr Mowbray be deferred until next meeting, the clerk meanwhile to obtain from the Treasury information on the subject of the loan. The question of rebate of rates to MiLawrence was held over till next meeting pending further information from the Valuation Department. The Overseer's report was read and adopted. Resolved that the Government bo asked to complete the metalling of the (short cut) road to Putara, this summer, as the road is badly needed. Resolved that the office be closed from December 24th to January 7'h.
