Wellington Wool, Skin, and Hide Sales.

Abraham and Williams, Ltd., report:- - We held our first, skin and hide sale on Thursday, offering 1500 skins, 50 hides, and odd lots of tallow. The market was firm at jd ruling rates for skins. Hides were easier throughout. We quote : — Full-woolled skins, coarse B;]d, fine 9d, dead skins Gjd to G;jd, crossbred inferior 5d to 7d, full-woolled butchers' skins 8s Cd to 9s. pelts 2s Id to 2s 9d to 2s lid, lambskins 2s 6d to 2s lid ; hides, ox to ox (cut) -lid.cows s£d, cows (cut) -id, yearlings (cut) 3d, calves 4:{d, tallow in tins 18s, inferior Ms; cow-tails Is Cd per dozen.

Levin and Co., Ltd., report:—We offered a small catalogue of wool, 1700 skins, 130 hides, and a quantity of tallow and horsehair. We quote:—Wool (only bag wool offered)—-Coarse crossbred 9d to 10d, inferior and logstained 6d to G;;d, pieces and bellies 4id to 5-Jd. Skins (market steady at last sale rates)— Merinos 7{d to Sid. fine crossbred 9d to 9\d, coarse crossbred Sid to 9d, dead skins Gid to 7-ld. dead hoggets Oid to 7id, short wools 6id to 7-id, lambskins Gid to 7id, woolly green skins 6s Gd to 9s, green lambskins 2s to 2s 9d, green I pelts 2s to 2s lid. Tallow—Strong com- ! petition. Parcels in shipping order £2G ss, tins £18 to £20, rough fat £17 9s. Horsehair—ls to Is 4d per lb. Horns—7s to 20s per 100. Hides—The market declined Jd to u'd. Dalgety and Company, Ltd., report:— Sheepskins—Prices for good lines were firm at last sale rates. Inferior quality showed a slight advance. Wo quote as follows :— Good crossbred S;-;.d to 9id, medium 8d to S£d, dead Cijd to 7id," lambs G. : ;d to Sd, damaged and broken Gd to Gid, pelts 2s to 2s lOd each, merino Gid to 7|d per lb. Hides—The market showed a decline of fully id per lb. Heavy ox (none oJiering), light, 541b to Gslb. G.jdto Gid, inferior s\'d. Cows—Medium, 451b to 491b, Gd to calfskins sad to 6.j i, cut and slippy 5d to s;;d. Murray, Roberts and Co. report:—We offered a catalogue of about HJOO sheepskins, 40 bags wool, 7 casks tallow and 300 hides and calfskins. Prices for wool and skins were on ti par with last sale, inferior pelted skins showing a difference of about jd to id per lb lower. Hides were easier to the extent of jd to |d per lb. Tallow was also easier in price, owing no doubt to freight having risen lately. Prices current to-day were as under: —Wool (in bags), crossbred, medium to fine 9id to lOjd ; crossbred coarse, BJd to l)jd ; pieces s;|-d to Cvjd ; locks, 3d to 4id. Sheepskins—Crossbred, medium to fine "9d to 9id ; crossbred, coarse, Sv|d to 9d ; halfbreds, 9jd to 9^d; lambs, 8J to Sjd ; damaged and inferior pelted crossbreds Gjd to Bjd ; dead and hoggets Gjd to 7jd ; pelts (good) 2s 2d to 2s 10d ; pelts (inferior) 9d to Is 4d. Hides —Prime ox (heavy weights) 6j-d to Gkl, medium ox s!;d to 0,',-d, cows (prime) 6d to 6Jd, cows (medium) 5-id to damaged and inferior hides 4 : |d tosjd, calf (prime) 6|d to 7-J-d, calf (damaged) 5d to s|d. Tallow—22s 9d to 25s Gd per cwt.

Jhe New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., reports :—At our sale on Friday wo offered a fair-sized catalogue of sheepskins, hides and tallow. Buyers were in usual strength and bidding was fairlybrisk for sheepskins. Dead skins advanced from jd lo |d per lb. Hides were lower by about j-d per lb. W-β quote Sheepskins : Half-bred and fine crossbred, 9jd to 9? d; coarse crossbred, B*d to 9d ; dead skins, Gid to ; broken, 4d"to 6d ; green skins, Ss to 8s 9d; lambs' skins, 2s 2dto 2s 6d. Hides: Medium ox, s|d to 6jd; medium cow, s|d to 6 1; slippy and cut, 4d to 5d ; calf, sound, 6id to 7d; calf, damaged, 2d to sd. Tallow: Mixed, •in casks, 25s 6d per cwt; in tins, from 18s 3d to 235.
