TRUST LANDS TRUSTEES.

Monthly Meeting.

The monthly meeting of the above was held last evening. Present—Messrs C. E. Daniell (chairman), J. Hessey, T. Wagg, and T. Michell.

The Secretary and Chairman were authorised to take the necessary steps for holding a poll on the question of building on vacant sections held by the Trust.

Accounts amounting to £50 lls Id were passed for payment.

The Treasurer reported a bank debit balance of £106 8s 3d.

The Secretary of the Masterton Municipal Band applied to the Trustees for the annual grant to the Band. A deputation attended the meeting in support of the application. Mr F. O'Connor, who headed the deputation, explained that the Band received no grant last year from the Trust, although a sum was passed to be paid. The Band had to pay £50 towards the tea kiosk being erected in the Park, and when this sum was paid the Band would be over £20 in debt. The Band had played twenty-three times last year without taking up a collection on any occasion. The Chairman examined the deputation as to the financial position, and after this had been ascertained, and the Trustees had discussed the matter, a sum of £20 was voted. The Secretary of the Masterton Ambulance Corps applied to the Trustees for a grant in aid of the fund towards purchasing an ambulance and equipments.--A sum of £5 was voted. A request was received from the Borough Council for a grant in aid of the tea kiosk being erected in the Park. The amount required to bring the total up to the £200 which the Council anticipated the kiosk would cost was £40 (the contract price accepted was £207).—1n view of the fact that the Band had also applied last evening 'for a grant, and that the Band was contributing towards the kiosk, the Trustees decided to grant a sum of £20.
