"MARIE NARELLE" CONCERTS.

(Press, November 14th.)

Excellent as was the first concert given by Miss Narelle and her company, that of last night was even better, and the audience was most enthusiastic, Miss Narelle, Mr Fentress, and Miss Usher having to respond to double encores. The various items on the programme allotted to Miss Narelle were widely diversified in character, and afforded her an opportunity to display her marvellous versatility. Moore's lovely song, " The Meeting of the Waters," was her first number, and she sang it with a tenderness and delicacy of vocalisation which aptly fitted the composition. Miss Narelle's interpretation oi "The Bonnie Banks of Loch Lomond" differed somewhat from that of her great compeer, Miss Jessie MacLachlan. Ihe latter made it purely a lament, but Miss Narelle took the tempo somewhat faster. It was finely sung throughout. Except her soul-stirring declamation in song of " The Wearing of the Green," Into which Miss Narelle infused the greatest patriotic spirit, her finest number was undoubtedly " Vashti." Her encore numbers were of a diversified nature, and she was particularly successful in the humourous Irish Ballads, notably " Rory O'More." The duets with Mr Fentress were also well sung. '.'
