LOST AT SEA.
(By Telegraph — Press Association.)
Oamaru, Sunday,
There is little doubt that the three men (Olliver, Drew, and Blaney), who were swept out of the Waitaki river on Friday night in a flat-bottomed boat, have lost their lives. Three oil launches have searched the neighbourhood of the river and far out to sea without discovering any trace of the boat. The Koonya, going north, and the Timaru Harbour Board's dredge coming to Oamaru, also kept a lookont, but saw nothing of the boat.
A telegram from Oamaru states that word was received yesterday, that a boat was found bottom upwards on the beach opposite Studholme. There is little doubt but that it is the craft in which three men were carried to sea from the mouth of the Waitaki River. There was no trace of the bodies.
