The weather, though dull in the morning, turned out beautifully fine for the second day of the Canterbury Jockey Club's meeting. The sum of £22,751 was passed through the machine. Results:—
Middleton Hurdles ; one mile and three-quarters.—-Evenlode, 1; Levant, 2 ; Comfort, 3. Time, 3min 18 2-ssec. Divs., £5 Cs and £2 Is Gd.
Criterion Handicap, seven furlongs. — Munjeet, 1; Intelligence, 2 ; Master Alix, 3. Time, lmin 27 3-ssec. Divs., £6 18s 6d and £lls.
Epsom High-weight Handicap, six furlongs.- Replete; 1; Gold Seal, 2 ; Stronghold 3. Time, lmin 15 3-ssec. Divs., £7 9s Gd and £2 13s Gd.
Derby Stakes, of 1000 soys, for three-year-olds ; one mile and a-half. Hon. J. D. Ormond's br c Zimmerman, by Birkenhead--Solitaire, Sst 101b (D.Price) 1 Mr G. Hunter's br f Mungista, 7st 51b (G Price) 2 Mr T. E. Crosses eh c Grand Slam, Sst 101b (O'Brien) 3

Zimmerman, wdth Grand Slam in attendance, showed out of the straight, and the former led all along the back. At six furlongs Grand Slam was on terms with the leader, but was unable to sustain his effort, and Zimmerman-was first into the straight. Here Mungista cut down Grand Slam, but was unable to reach Zimmerman, who won by a length ancl a half. Grand Slam a length behind. Blazing Star fourth. Time, 2min 10 2-ssec, Divs., £1 15s and £4 2s.
Juvenile Plate, fivo furlongs.—lluascar, 1; Glenculloch, 2; Eona, 3. Timo, GO 4-ssec. Div., £4 Gs Gd.
Metropolitan Handicap, of 750 soys ; one mile and a half.

Also started--Boomerang ancl Ellerton (bracketed), Paritutu, Crichton, Letherin, Star Rose, St. Joe, Ironmould, Czarevna.
A straggling start was effected, of which Boomerang and Ellerton got best, and Star Rose, Crichton, and Armistice the worst, the last-named being last to move. The bracketed pair led along the back and into the straight, but at the distance they were done with. Mystification then took command. Armistice, w r ho had made up her ground in fine style, came with a great run, and won by a length and a half, Ghoorka a half length away, Paritutu fourth. Time, 2min 36 l-ssec. Divs., £5 16s and £2 12s 6d.
Trwell Handicap, four furlongs.—Moriarty, 1 ; Cockleshell, 2; Adria, 3. Time, 50 1-5 sec. Divs., £2 8s ancl £3 Is.
Otaio Plate, ono mile and a-half.— Montigo, 1 ; Blythemaid, 2 ; Bourrasque, 3. Time, 2min 39 2-ssec. Divs., £5 17s and £2 7s 6d.
