MYSTERIOUS SUICIDE.

Auckland, Last Night

Inspector Cullen received a brief note, dated October 1-lth, and signed " Charles Leitch, alia* Charles Pollard," stating that tbo writer's dead body would be found on the summit of Rangitoto.

The letter was worded as follows : "To the Chief of Police, Auckland.—On tho top of Rangitoto will bo found my dead body. Please deal with it as your laws divoct. -

Charles Leitch, alia* Charles Pollard."

Two constables set out for tho island at 7 o'clock this morning, and returned shortly boforo ."> o'clock, bringing with thorn the dead body of Leitch, which they had found at the top of tho cone as indicated.

In one of tho deceased's pockets a note addressed to the coroner was found, explaining that the reason for tho deed was to bring into prominence a work he had written dealing with human personality.
