Auckland, This Day,

Walter Richard Webb, a youth under 16 years, was charged to-day with forging a cheque for £338 in the name of Edmund Maboney. The evidonce showed that the accused, though not employed by Mr Mahoney, had discovered the latter's method of perforating his cheques, and copied it so perfectly as to deceive the Bank officials, though the signature was a forgery. The accused made a full confession, and was committed for trial.
