CARTERT ON NOTES.

Mr D. T. King, Superintendent of the local Methodist Sunday School, entertained the teachers of the school at an " At Homo," at his private residence, on Monday evening, when a very pleasant evening was enjoyed. The weekly meeting of tho local branch of St. John's Ambulance Association was held on Monday evening, when the members were put through bandaging tests. The latest Carterton stock quotations, last week, were :—2yr heifers £-1 15s to £5, 3yr heifers £5 ss, springing cows £3 15s to £5 V s 6d, poor cows and late in calving £3 to £3 ss, harness horse £15, weaner pigs 12s to Ms 6d. The anniversary services in connection with the local Methodist Church were celebrated on Sunday last, in the presence of

large, congregations. The Rev. R. Richards the pulpit at the morning service, the Rev. B. 11. Ginger in the evening. A meeting of the Carterton Town Clock Committee was held on Saturday night, Mr Jas. Brown (Mayor) presiding. A letter was received from the Secretary of tho Friendly Societies' Sports Committee, asking, on their behalf, that the Clock Committee bj cal/od together wit.li a view to handing over the surplus, and their attention was also directed to a minute on their books dealing with the matter. -It was resolved that £50 be placed to the credit of the Friendly Societies' Sports Committee, upon that body appointing four trustees, one from each Order. Tiie balance (£200) to be found for the town clock, by the Carterton district, was passed for payment. The following prices were realised for the privileges for the Wairarapa P. and A. Society's Show, which were sold here oa Saturday :— Publican's Booth, £37: Ourside Luncheon Booth, £8 ; Fruit and Fancy Stall, £S 15s.

The Taratahi Racing Club's privileges sold as follows : — Grandstand Bar, w[fs2 ; Outside Publican's Booth, .SM2 10s; Gramlsiand Luncheon Booth, £16 10s; Outside Luncheon Booth, £12. The Programme Committee of the local United Friendly Societies' Sports Committee, met on Saturday night, and drew up the programme for the Boxing Day Sports. The programme will be submitted to the General Committee on Tuesday night.
