Sir Wilfrid Laurier's Sympathy

Sir Wilfred Laurier, Premier of the Canadian Dominion, in addressing a Home Rule meeting at Ottawa, declared that he was a Home Ruler, and there was no true Canadian who was not. The way to pave the path to the accomplishment of Imperial unity was to grant Home Rule to Ireland. {Received To-day, al 5.29 p.m.) London, Last Night. Mr John Redmond, in a speech at Tyrone, offered to go to great lengths—in short, the abandonment of principle—in order to satisfy Ulster men that their religious interests would not be endangered under Home Rule. He warned the Nationalists that the acceptance of administrative Home Rule would probably cause Home Rule to disappear from practical politics for a generation.
