Martinborough Stock Sale.
Messrs Dalgety and Co., Ltd., held their sale at the Martinborough yards on Tuesday, when entries exceeded advertised numbers, about four thousand sheep ancl two hundred head of cattle coming forward. There was a large attendance of buyers, and bidding for sheep was particularly animated, practically every line selling readily under the hammer. Competition for cattle was not keen, and the majority wore unsold. For fat ewes a record price was obtained, a very prime pen on account of Mr M. McLeod selling at 20s. A pen of two-tooth ewes in lamb aiso reached a record price for South Wairarapa sales, about two hundred very nice ewes of this class reaching 20s 2>\. f.f.m. ewes in lamb sold from 13s to 15s, others 10s 5d to 12s, hoggets 9s Id to lis Sd ; 2-year steers 55s to 00s, heifers for factory profit 60s to 725, cows for factory profit 47s 6d to 60s; good hack gelding £18 15s. The next Martinborough sale is advertised for Tuesday, 21th inst.
