Timaku, Yesterday

John Wheal ley. an old age pensioner, who lived at Temuk;., died, yesterday, as the result of burns sustained about the chest, nock and face. The old man was discovered 0:1 his hands and knees, about twenty yards from the cottage where he lived alone. At the inquest, to-day, the evidence showed that the deceased was uuable to give an aecornt as \o how he received the burns, and a search of his cottage iwealed no trace of kerosene or lamp. The burns had the appu. ranee of having been received some time !.-„■ fore the old man.- condition was- discovered, and the hut concluded he must have received them accidentally at his lireplace.
