The Northern Approach.

A Strong Protest

[to the editor.]

Sir, —Surely it is time our Borough and County Councils came to some commonsense understanding respecting the control and oversight of the approaches to Lansdowne. With the advent of more inhabitants to the suburb, the cycle and motor-cycle nuisance has also increased. It'is a daily experience now for pedestrians who make use of the foot-bridges to meet cyclists going full speed along these narrow approaches. Even men (whom one would naturally credit with better manners) may be seen, who, rather than get off and walk alongside their machines, will remain seated on their bikes and force women and children down the banks, into the puddles, or into anything they can hold to. Is there anybody, or official anywhere, to whom we can appeal against such conduct? —I am, etc., A Patient Sufferer.
